Zampano is popular destination for brunch though they function as a regular restaurant as well. It is a bistro by day and a bar by night. The choices are quite classic but you will be served very good quality food. All of the dishes are typically Greek with a modern take. Try out their rolled feta pie which is stuffed with warm feta cheese and drizzled with honey. This dish elegantly combines saltiness, sweetness and crunchiness which will be a delight for your senses.

This place is the first that started serving brunch on Sundays. There is a secret garden in the back where you can enjoy an amazing brunch in a relaxing environment. There are endless choices in the menu; blending modern international cuisine with a Greek twist. The place also serves awesome paella after five, and plays jazz every Sunday.

4. Philos Athens

This place is not only a café, there are also different meeting spaces for art lovers or people working in other industries. There is also a store that sells clothing and homeware at level one.  The coffee is great and there are many different kinds of it. Their selection revolves around simple yet well executed Mediterranean dishes.  The design is charming and cozy, which attracts a lot of locals. It is integrated in a neoclassical building, built in the 20th century.

5. Montakiou

Montakiou is originally a gallery which has a café to its side. The coffee here is very fresh as is it ground on the spot and on demand.  This place serves mostly sandwiches, but they are all definitely unique and tasteful, crunchy on the exterior. The place is very relaxed and welcoming, and it is not a surprise that a lot of artists come here to meet.

6. Harvest Coffee & Wine

A large selection of eggs dishes are proposed at this Spanish restaurant and bar. It a small rustic area, located on the rooftop of the Acropolis Museum which gives a outstanding view of Athens you haven’t had in your visit yet. All of the ingredients to have an amazing brunch are here. Come early in the morning to see the variations of colors in the sky as the sun rises at its highest point.

7. Mama roux

This place serves international cuisine like no other. Every dish is truly tasteful and results in a personal choice made by the owner’s travels through the years. The owners are American and serve tasty and various foods, from Indian to Mexican. The portions are quite large. If you don’t have much time to visit Athens, we recommend you to reserve to be sure of not waiting too long to get in.

Opening hours : Every day : Monday from 9:30 to 18:30, Tuesday until Saturday : 9:30 to 00:30 and Sunday 12:00 to 18:00.

8.  Big spoon

This place is originally a hotel,  that serves generous brunches and breakfast. People actually come here to only eat breakfast and not for the hotel itself as the food is surprisingly delicious. It is a good place to visit and stay in eventually, making your visit more practical. The place is a slightly underground, which creates a warmhearted environment giving you the impression you are far away from the cities hustle and bustle.

Opening hours : Every day from 9:00 to 1:00, exept from Friday and Sunday where it is open until 3:00.

9. Peek a bloom

Known for its outstanding coffees and pancakes, this place is hidden behind an arcade. It is also a bar as many new places combine coffee and cocktails, which names are inspired by poems. It opened very recently but it already is one of the city’s finest spots.

Opening hours : Monday to Thursday : 8:00 to 2:00. Friday to Saturday : 10:00 to 4:00. Sunday : 10:00 to 12:00.

10. The underdog

The underdog has its own courtyard which will make you feel very cozy and cut off from the city’s noise for a while. The place takes its coffee very seriously as it roasts its own coffee. They have traditional Greek cuisine as well as more mainstream brunch dishes. They offer overall outstanding food.

Opening hours : Daily from 9am to 11pm, from Monday to Sunday.

If it’s a bit late for brunch, you can always grab something quick at one of Athens’ many great take out places, where you’ll find grilled meats, from souvlaki to gyros sandwiches, before heading out for a proper meal.
