Sydney, Australia – Great beach spots for the whole family

Summer in Sydney means heading to the beach, but often when you have a family it can sometimes be less of a relaxing snooze on the sand and more a stressful venture to the coastline.

While the beach is great it can sometimes be difficult taking the whole family along to places like Bondi Beach, where there are so many people everywhere that it’s easy for a parent’s worst nightmare to come to fruition and loose your little ones among the crowd or the waves are too big to be a safe place to take the kids into the water.

However, there are some beaches in Sydney that are great safe spots to take the kids, with ocean and rock pools creating a place where the kids can play in the water to their hearts content while you laze the day away on the sand.

Wylie’s Baths

Coogee beach is one of the great Sydney beaches and has a fantastic spot to take the kids, Wylie’s Baths.

Wylie’s Baths is a great seawater pool that is excellent for taking the kids to swim in the ocean water while you lay on the massage beds and enjoy a relaxing massage. What could be better?

Nielsen Park

Nielsen Park is a hidden gem in Sydney’s eastern suburb of Vaucluse.

This is a beach side location that provides the perfect beach setting with spectacular views of Sydney Harbour and it’s calm still waters provide an excellent spot to let the kids swim while you relax and enjoy the view.

Balmoral Beach

Balmoral Beach, in Sydney’s northern suburb of Mosman, is a fantastic place to take the family for a swim in its calm waters in its very own netted swimming hole.

The netted swimming area, which is perfect for kids to swim in due to the flat calm waters and is built within a boardwalk that extends out over the water, where families and beach goers can relax on their towels in the summer sun and enjoy their day out at the beach.

Maccallum Pool

Maccallum Pool, also in Mosman, is a harbourside pool that has heritage dating back to the 1920’s and was restored in the 1980’s.

The deck surrounding the pool is a much loved spot for locals and visitors to lounge in the sun in both summer and winter, and a great place to take the kids for a relaxing harbourside swim.
