Naples-Capodichino Airport: transfer by shuttle

While there is a bus line integrated into the Neapolitan network – the 3S line – which allows the transfer between the airport and downtown Naples, the best way to get there is still the service offered by Alibus.

Between 6am and 11pm and for 5€, Alibus shuttles provide the link between Naples-Capodichino airport and two stops of your choice located in the city of Naples:

It should be noted that it will be advisable to choose the Stazione Napoli Centrale stop, which is close to several metro and RER lines, in order to take advantage of public transport to discover other parts of the city. Especially since the ticket allows you to use all Neapolitan public transport for 90 minutes after purchase!

The Port of Naples stop is perfect for walking through the city directly after getting off the shuttle, or on a ferry to other tourist attractions in the Bay of Naples: a local seaside resort like Capri, or Pompei, for example?

Whatever your choice, it will take you about 30 minutes, depending on traffic conditions, to complete the journey to your stop from the airport. Shuttles leave every 20 minutes from the airport, and the ticket can be purchased directly from their respective drivers.

Some websites allow the purchase of tickets in advance, the latter having the advantage of being a priority. In other words, you will be sure to find a place on board even if many people are queuing up!

Finally, please note that the transfer between the airport and downtown Naples by shuttle is free if you present a Naples City Pass.

Naples-Capodichino Airport: transfer by taxi

Transfer from Naples Airport

In addition to the main solution mentioned above, it is possible to organize your transfer between the airport and the city center of Naples by taking advantage of the many taxis that welcome you, in a dedicated station – located opposite the main arrivals hall – and offering routes to Piazza Garibaldi or the port of Naples. In the first case, it will cost you about twenty euros, in the second, count 5€ more.

It should be noted that other more or less equivalent transport services exist on site, such as Uber or companies offering a car with a driver. In any case, don’t forget to ask for the fare beforehand, and make sure that there is an official counter in the vehicle, in order to avoid scams and other inconveniences!

Naples-Capodichino Airport: car rental

Finally, as soon as you arrive at the airport, you can take advantage of the presence of multiple car rental agencies located a few minutes by shuttle (free) at the end of the airport, and offering vehicles for rent. Once you have the keys in your pocket, all you have to do is take the “Tangenziale”, another name for the A56 urban motorway, to reach downtown Naples or any other part of the city.

A flexible solution that provides a certain amount of freedom, however, we recommend that you assess whether it is worth the effort. Indeed, Naples is a city with dense and, let us face it, rather chaotic traffic. If you do not intend to discover the surroundings of the city, but rather spend your entire stay in the city, you should prefer the two previous transfer solutions between the airport and the city centre of Naples.
