Why visit Athens ?
Cradle of Democracy and Europe, Athens is the capital of Greece and its largest city. If the city wasn’t very beautiful before the year 2000, the works of the Olympic Games organized here in 2004 offered a new face to the ancient city and is today a very attractive city. Some buildings can be a little depressing, but don’t overlook it. Athens is full of world famous sites like those of the Acropolis and its museums (Benaki Museum, National Archaeological Museum, etc…) are world class. Once you have visited the ancient sites, take a stroll in the Pláka district or at the Monastiraki flea market. Gigantic, and boiling in summer, Athens is perhaps difficult to handle, but once you have mastered it, it can be discovered without moderation !
